The Campus Delivery/Jitney service is available to provide expedited delivery of material or individuals for departments in and around campus that cannot be handled through other methods. This includes packages, documents or individuals needing timely delivery that cannot be handled through Campus Mail or the bus system.
A department should call 225-578-5000 to have a courier dispatched to pick up and deliver the package or document. The service is open to all university departments for on-campus delivery. Off-campus deliveries/jitneys are restricted to only those that can be handled efficiently and without impacting the on-campus service. There are restrictions on the weight and size. Student workers make the deliveries. Therefore, the weight cannot exceed 25 pounds and one person must easily handle the package. Money, paychecks and sensitive documents will not be carried unless a person from the requesting departments accompanies the driver. Deliveries are made on first-come, first-served basis.
This also applies to staff/faculty who need transportation for a meeting across campus.
The Jitney Service operates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. Because it is a student-based service, they may not always be available to accommodate each request.
The LSU Tiger Trails Transit System provides a safe, convenient, and free bus service for LSU students, faculty, staff, and visitors, both on and off campus.
The new LSU Tiger Trails Transit System has improved plans in place to increase safety and efficiency. With increased seating capacity and improved routes, our system will help to decrease vehicle congestion on and around campus. All buses will eventually be equipped with improved ventilation and bike racks to better serve passengers. All buses will also have global positioning devices, allowing passengers to monitor actual arrival times through the LSU Bus Service Web site, tigertrails.lsu.edu.
The LSU Tiger Trails Transit System has also created Fixed-Rider Routes to better serve daily-use passengers with quick and efficient schedules. They run consistently on a schedule and stop only at established, pre-determined stops. These routes will follow regular schedules Monday-Friday on weekends, with abbreviated or suspended service between semesters, on holidays, and during the summer.
LSU Office of Parking, Traffic, & Transportation will continue to manage the Campus Transit fleet. This is a door-to-door service, free of charge, that runs nightly from 5:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. Students can access this service by calling 225-578-5555, provide the information requested and a van or minibus will be dispatched. Students who return late to their residence halls may stop by the Public Safety Building on South Stadium Road and request Campus Transit follow them to a legal parking space where they will be picked up and taken to their residence hall.. LSU contracts with First Transit to provide bus service for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, both on and off campus on the LSU .
