ProfessionalsAs a graduate student at LSU, there are many opportunities for professional development and career assistance. Special events and workshops are regularly announced by the Graduate School in our weekly announcements and monthly newsletter. You can also check out LSU’s Continuing Education programs.

Several departments have graduate student conferences that provide opportunities for students to present their research alongside open calls for work from students at other universities. They frequently include world renowned keynote speakers. Many offer opportunities for interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary presentations as well.

LSU is now a member of the CIRTL Network, a Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning, and provides professional development, workshops, and graduate coursework that can lead to three levels of certification. More information will be available in Spring 2017.

The Olinde Career Center and Careers2Geaux are excellent resources for job postings, networking events, and workshops. LSU also subscribes to My World Abroad for global career listings. 

Webinars are offered regularly through LSU’s ITS office. Frequent topics include Moodle, Turnitin, Qualtrics, online instruction and learning, and teaching. There is also a year-long series of workshops, Food for Thought – A Seminar Series for Graduate Teaching Assistants, that begins each September.

Lynda Campus offers video-based online courses for software, design, and business skills training. Commonly used software courses include the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and social media. The Microsoft Imagine program offers over 300 e-learning courses and opportunities for Information Technology industry certifications.
