ASK ABOUT OUR VA EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPROVED FOR THE EMT, AEMT, AND RECRUIT ACADEMY CLASSES. 

**The VA requires that all prior courses, credits and military training/experience be evaluated for potential transfer credit towards a student’s training program. Transcripts must be turned in prior to the start of a training program.  Each transfer student will have their previous training and courses evaluated prior to their enrollment at the Training Academy.  Appropriate credit will be given for any applicable transfer credit/prior training and experience at the time a prior credit evaluation is completed. We've simplified our fees. Now, when you enroll in any certification level class with FETA, the cost includes your certification testing.

What You Need to Know:

Books & Learning Resources: You'll need to get your books and access to our Learning Management Program. Don't worry, we've made it simple. Just find the specific ISBN listed in the class description on ACADIS.

Choose Your Format: Love the feel of paper? Or prefer digital? It's your call! You can choose between a traditional textbook or an e-book. Access to the corresponding learning management system will be needed with either the textbook or e-book to complete course assignments. The specific ISBN will be provided in the course description in the Acadis portal, simply select the course to take you to the description with all the important information for each class.

Be Prepared: Remember, having your reference material is crucial. Make sure you have it by the first day of class to hit the ground running.

The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy provides a full spectrum of industrial fire training. This training can be tailored to any industrial response agency to assure specific needs are met. We encourage leaders of industrial fire agencies to contact the Fire Academy to develop a training regimen that meets their needs and provides a quality training experience.

Municipal Training

The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy has the critical mission of providing high quality life saving training for firefighters throughout not only the state but the nation. The core training within the Municipal Section are the “Fundamentals” of fire and emergency response. The municipal training curriculum assures fire service personnel are academically prepared for their positions at all levels of any fire and emergency service agency. The municipal curriculum prepares attendees to sit for the certification exams.

Recruit Academy

Firefighting is internationally known as an honorable and trusted profession for its sense of selflessness and efforts to help other people. Because of the dangers involved in the profession, and even in the training for it, proper training, physical ability and discipline are paramount. The FETA Recruit Fire Academy course is designed for entry-level firefighters and is taught under the same paramilitary chain of command used in today’s fire departments.

EMS is a large portion of services provided by fire and emergency agencies throughout the nation. The Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy provides all levels of emergency medical training to assure your agency is prepared to provide life saving services to any community or location.

The extinguisher training courses offered by the Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy are designed to train our local, state, and private partners in the use and maintenance of fire extinguishers.

Certification Program

The Certification Program is to identify and recognize emergency service personnel whose accomplishments in training and education meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards. The NFPA standards for Fire Service Professional Qualifications identify the minimum requirements for a person at a particular level of progression. A person certified to one of the Fire Service Professional levels will have demonstrated competency in the knowledge and skills required to perform at a particular level. The service that can be offered to the citizens, visitors, and communities of Louisiana will be enhanced by the professional competency attained through this certification process.
