When is Family Weekend?

2017 Family Weekend is September 29 - October 1st. 


When does registration for the 2017 Family Weekend open?

Registration opens to Family Association members on August 16th. All other families are able to begin registration on August 23rd. Registration will close on September 22nd.


How do I register for Family Weekend?

Online. All Family Association members will receive an email with the registration link on August 16th. Once registration opens to all families, the registration link will be emailed and posted on the Family Experience website. 


What methods of payment are accepted for Family Weekend?

All payments for LSU Family Weekend are made by using a credit card on the online registration form. MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express are accepted. There will be a 2.5% credit card processing fee on all transactions.


What is the registration fee and what does it include?

Purple Package

Individual family members will have access to Family Weekend events and associated all-you-care-to-eat buffets at the Welcome Dinner, Dessert Social, and Tailgate. Includes special Family Weekend souvenirs. Registration fee is $55 per person.

Gold Package 

Individual family members will have access to Family Weekend events and all-you-care-to-eat buffets at the Welcome Dinner, Dessert Social, and Tailgate, plus the Jazz Brunch. Includes special Family Weekend souvenirs. Registration fee is $70 per person. There are two time slots available for the Jazz Brunch: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. You will need to select your preferred time on your registration form.

Please note:

  • Children 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
  • Please register and pay for all family members attending Family Weekend events, including your LSU student.
  • Only registered family members are allowed access to Family Weekend-sponsored events.
  • In addition to the all-you-care-to-eat, southern-style brunch buffet, the Jazz Brunch will also feature a live Jazz Band, door prizes, silent auction, and end-of-weekend slideshow.  
  • Your Family Weekend registration fee does not cover football tickets, as those must be purchased separately through the LSU Athletic Ticket Office.  More information is available below on purchasing football tickets.


Can we register for other events separately?

No, only the two packages are offered.


Does my LSU student have to pay the registration fee?

Yes, your LSU student is considered a Family Weekend attendee and must register and pay the fee to attend Family Weekend-sponsored events.


Are refunds available?

No, Family Weekend registrations are nonrefundable.


Can my student pick up my packet during Check-In?

Yes, students will need to know the name of the primary registered contact and may pick up the packet during Check-in on Friday. We will also have late check-in during the Tailgate on Saturday.

Are tickets available for the football game? How can I purchase them? Will they be mailed to me?

Football tickets are available to family members registered for Family Weekend. Details on how to purchase these tickets will be sent in a confirmation email received after registering for the event. Only registered family members are eligible for these football tickets.

When purchasing football tickets for Family Weekend you will have the option to select “Print at Home” tickets or “Will Call” tickets. If you select the “Print at Home” option, you will receive an email in early September from the Ticket Office containing the tickets.  This email has a large attachment so be sure to check your junk/spam folder. If you select the “Will Call” option, your tickets can be picked up at the Athletic Ticket Office. Please visit for more information on the LSU Athletic Ticket Office.


Are tickets available for those who do not register for Family Weekend?

Football tickets in the Family Weekend allotment are reserved ONLY for family members registered for Family Weekend.  The number of football tickets ordered CANNOT EXCEED the number of family members registered for Family Weekend. I have registered for Family Weekend. When do I receive my confirmation e-mail?

Confirmation emails are sent out in the order registrations are received and are not automatically generated. Please allow up to 24 hours after registering to receive your confirmation email. If you register on a weekend, your confirmation email will not arrive until the following business day. If you do not receive your confirmation email after 24 hours, contact us at Football tickets are limited so please do not delay in purchasing your tickets once you receive your confirmation email.


What are the seat locations for the Family Weekend football game tickets?

There are two ticket options for our Family Weekend participants:

  • A limited number of tickets are available for purchase in the North and South End Zones for $45 each and are located in Sections 235-236 and 402. 
  • Tickets are also available in the East Upper Deck for $20 each and are located in Sections 636, 637 and 641.

Family Weekend participants that need handicap accessible or easily accessible seating tickets should contact Lindsay McCrory ( as soon as possible after registering for Family Weekend. This includes family members who may not be able to climb multiple flights of stairs. Handicap accessible tickets in Tiger Stadium are extremely limited and there is a limited number of easily accessible seating.


Should I purchase a football ticket for my LSU student?

If your LSU student has received a student ticket to the football game, he or she can use that ticket to sit in the student section of Tiger Stadium. The student section is not located near the Family Weekend groups of tickets. If you would like your student to sit with your family for the game, you will need to purchase an additional ticket through the LSU Family Weekend Promo Code.


Can my student use his or her LSU Student Ticket for the football game?

Yes, but your student will sit in the student section only, which is not near the Family Weekend section of tickets. If your student would like to sit with registered family members, you will need to purchase an additional ticket in the Family Weekend group of tickets. 


If we register for Family Weekend, are we guaranteed football tickets?

Traditionally, there have been enough football tickets to accommodate all registered families; however, football tickets are limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Please do not delay in purchasing your football tickets once you receive your confirmation email. Tickets in the Family Weekend allotment are only available to families who register for Family Weekend.


What should I do if football tickets have sold out?

Call the Athletic Ticket Office at (225) 578-2184 to inquire about the availability of football tickets for the general public. We also recommend utilizing to access the Ticket Marketplace, which is a venue for LSU fans to buy and sell their tickets for upcoming LSU games.


When should we plan to arrive?

Check-in will begin at 10:30 am on Friday and run continuously throughout the afternoon. The first official Family Weekend event is the Welcome Dinner that begins at 5:00 p.m. Late Check-in is also available during the Family Weekend Tailgate on Saturday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.


I have a family member who needs special accommodations. Who should I contact?

Please indicate on the registration form if any member of your family has any dietary restrictions. If you have a family member that requires special accommodations, please contact Lindsay McCrory at as soon as possible to discuss details and availability of accommodations for each event.


I missed the Family Weekend registration deadline. What can I do?

Traditionally, space has not been available to accommodate late registrations due to simple capacity issues. If your family missed the registration deadline, please contact Lindsay McCrory at to inquire if space is available.


Where can I park during Family Weekend?

At this time, we are finalizing parking details.  Final information will be posted on the Family Experience website and emailed to all registered families prior to Family Weekend.
