Vision Statement 

Modern computer science is a powerful tool and an evolving discipline that affects science, technology, engineering, arts, and more. The LSU Division of Computer Science and Engineering strives to equip faculty and students with the resources necessary to study and use the field of computer science to address a wide range of complex scientific, technological, and social problems. The division promotes innovative research and education programs in core computer science and multidisciplinary application areas, with a focus on theoretical foundations, systems and architecture, databases and data analytics, software engineering, computational science, digital media and cyber security.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Division of Computer Science and Engineering is to provide a stellar education to our undergraduate and graduate students and to establish nationally and internationally known research programs. We not only aim to provide our undergraduate and graduate students with an outstanding education, but also to prepare them for productive careers in industry, academia, and government and equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to solve the complex technological problems of modern society. Our faculty actively engages our students by providing broad educational and research experiences for them both in and out of the classroom and by promoting collaborative and multidisciplinary activities. We strive for excellence in research, teaching, and service in the fundamental and applied aspects of computer science.
