There are many ways to support the Botanic Gardens at Burden; enjoying our gardens
and trails, using our facilities for your events, attending our educational and recreational
activities, spreading the word about us, lending a hand, purchasing our goods, becoming
a member and financing our upkeep and efforts. We hope you will find your way to
keep this Baton Rouge treasure thriving so that generations to come may enjoy the
peace and tranquility available on the Burden property in the middle of our busy city.
More than 300 people regularly volunteer at the Botanic Gardens. From planting fields
and gardens, trimming rose bushes, building enclosures, running attractions, taking
admissions to simply answering the phone, the property could not operate without the
help of our dedicated volunteers. Visit out Volunteer page for more information about where you can help.
Membership for the Botanic Gardens at Burden is operated by the Burden Horticulture
Society. Your membership helps to support the gardens and provides you with many
valuable benefits. See our Membership benefits page for more information.
The Botanic Gardens at Burden are supported by Louisiana State University, the Burden
Foundation and private donations. Your donations are tax deductible. Online donations
can be made through the LSU Foundation.
We would like to provide you with an opportunity to sponsor one of the Botanic Gardens
fundraising events. We welcome sponsorships from both individuals and businesses.
These sponsorships give you an opportunity to give back to your community and provide
financial support to an outstanding community resource. For individuals, donations
to the Botanic Gardens through the LSU Foundation are tax-deductible. For businesses,
event sponsorships not only provide tax benefits, but also exposure through presence
at the event. You have the opportunity to reach new potential customers and receive
free publicity through media coverage and signage for the event.
Sponsorship at the Botanic Gardens demonstrates an important commitment to the environment
and to the conservation of plants and the natural world. Fundraising from events
at the Botanic Gardens are used to build our educational programs as well as improve
and expand our garden offerings.
Many organizations call the Botanic Gardens their home. Our meeting rooms, gardens,
potting shed, greenhouses and other facilities support both Burden activities as well
as those of other gardening groups. We invite you to learn more about these groups
and take advantage of what they have to offer.
Members of these groups are eligible for discounted membership in the Burden Horticulture
Society as Associate members. The Burden Horticulture Society is a non-profit organization that serves for the sole purpose of supporting the Botanic
Gardens at Burden.
