Learn the analytics cycle from understanding a business and its data to model building and implementation. You take the guesswork out of business success by learning to prepare, analyze, and interpret data.
The Business Analytics curriculum ensures that students receive instruction on the main components of analytics: preparative analytics, descriptive analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics. Students also receive instruction on the application of analytics to various business decisions in disciplines such as marketing, finance, and human resources.
Upon completing the BS Business Analytics program, students will be able to:
- Understand the core principles and techniques used to manage business and apply analytics to solve problems.
- Understand core issues relating to big data analytics.
- Understand principles of database design.
- Write SQL queries to extract data from databases.
- Explain how to apply the terms “big data” and “analytics” in the context of predictive analytics.
- Create SQL views to combine and manipulate data from different sources in preparation for analysis.
- Prepare data for predictive models using CRISP-DM.
- Create a variety of visualizations with Tableau or other applications, including building dashboards.
- Explain business intelligence concepts.
- Select an appropriate model or method for predictive analysis modeling to support business decision-making.
- Evaluate predictive analytics models for accuracy and ability to be replicated.
- Understand specific analytics applications in finance, accounting, management, and marketing.
- Use analytics to support data-driven decision-making in finance, accounting, management, and marketing.

Most major organizations have adopted data-driven and technology-focused approaches to their business operations. Because of this, graduates with degrees in business analytics are in high demand. Graduates with a background in business analytics work as strategy consultants, research analysts, data scientists, and supply chain managers.
